Name: Brent Nert
Nickname: N/A
Age: 14
Class at Academy: Novice
Gender: Male
Appearance: He’s at the stage in life where his body doesn’t quite know when to stop growing, so he’s mostly knees and elbows. At the moment he’s about 5’5”. No real muscle is on his frame yet, though he does have a good set of legs from all of the biking he likes to do. Hair is the same navy blue as his mother’s, though kept short like his dad. Eyes are a light brown, even though his mother swears up and down that he had blue eyes when he was born. Clothing is kept to your basic t-shirts and shorts, nothing all that expensive. He has a thing for sneakers, mostly those that have colored accents or soles, and has brought most of his collection with him to Sigma.
Personality: With Pokémon being a huge part of his interests and activities, you can bet it’s taken over most of his personality as well. Within his group of friends he was known as the go-to guy, always burying his nose in one reference or another to find the answer. Only problem is that he tends to forget that he’s not the only guy with the info now and usually ends up with his foot in his mouth. Luckily he has a good sense of humor and doesn’t mind laughing at his own mistakes, though sometimes he is too good-natured and lets other push him around.
With strangers he tends to come off as a chatterbox, mouth going and going until they get a chance to escape. Friends however, find that he is quite clever and even has a bit of sarcasm hidden inside. Banter tends to falter when he’s around “older women”, or girls in the higher classes, he can loose his cool pretty quickly and just fall back to sticking body limbs in his mouth.
History: He hails from Slateport City, all the way in Hoenn. He only has one brother, Douglas, who is seven years his senior and training to be a breeder. Doug likes to joke that Brent was born from a pokeball, given his rather obsessive nature on the subject it rather fits. Besides riding his bike and playing with the neighborhood kids, he would spend much of his time following his favorite trainers on TV or clip out articles from various magazines. During the summer he would watch all of the Elite Cup tournaments, from Jhoto to Sinnoh, he and his friends going to the block parties the Poke Club down the street would throw.
Once he turned ten his brother was out of the picture. He’d gotten an apprenticeship with a father-daughter breeder team through his job down at the market and left in the springtime. To say Brent missed him is an understatement; the two had grown really close over the winter and to suddenly have him gone…well he didn’t really know what to think. Luckily it was Mom to the rescue. She made sure he knew he could call his brother whenever he wanted, and that she was always there with a friendly ear too. When school was out for the summer, she took him with her to her job at the Contest Hall and let him be her assistant when she went to photograph Pokémon with her Onix. Basically she made sure he wouldn’t do any of the crazy things Doug did, like shave his head. Twice. Things evened out after awhile, especially when Doug visited the first time and showed him the two eggs he was caring for.
After his fourteenth birthday, he began to make plans for his future career as a trainer. He looked into the various academies, as well as which region he wanted to start off in. Sigma Academy didn’t come into play until his father came home with the number and web address one evening. It seemed that one of his co-workers at the docks had just gotten back from their niece’s graduation, and they had nothing but good things to say about the school. A few weeks later Brent had his paperwork all set, ready to start once the new year came. On his usual trip home for the festivities, his brother gave him a little Buneary he raised to take with him to Sigma.
Starter: Buneary
Favorite Pokémon Type: Normal, Rock, Water
Least Favorite Pokémon Type: Poison
Other: Currently he wants to become a trainer specializing in Normal type Pokemon.
